All aboard for the Little Britain Challenge Cup!

Congratulations to Team Lakesmere for putting in a great performance at the Little Britain Challenge Cup this weekend, finishing in second place in the IRC 1 category.  A great weekend of sun, sailing and silverware was had by all, with special thanks to our crewmates and sponsors Hueck, Press Glass, Brett Martin and Build UK.

Now in its 30th year, the annual charity regatta is a popular event on the construction industry’s calendar and as well as helping to raise funds for various charities across the UK, provides companies with an opportunity to sail competitively whilst strengthening relationships with suppliers, clients and colleagues alike.

As a seasoned competitor at the event, Lakesmere competed in the Class 1 races this year and were supported once again by supply chain partners Brett Martin, Hueck, Press Glass and construction organisation Build UK. The crew was comprised of Lakesmere employees, its sponsors and customers.  After narrowly missing out on the top spot last year, Lakesmere won the overall Class 1 event in 2015 and the crew are hoping to build on this previous success by once again finishing at the top of their class.

The competitive races were held in the new setting of Shepards Wharf Marina, West Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

Lakesmere’s Business Improvement Director and team organiser Rob Stearne added: “As a regular participant of the Little Britain sailing regatta, we've got a great boat, a stalwart skipper and a fantastic crew this year. Good old-fashioned teamwork and determination has always been the key to our success and we are very grateful for the support of our sponsors. We gave it our all and at the end of the day we can feel proud of getting involved and doing our bit for the extremely worthwhile charities that the regatta supports.”
