At the Newhaven Energy Recovery Facility, Lakesmere was appointed by main contractor HOCTIEF to install a building envelope package featuring part-Kalzip, part Danpalon multi-cell polycarbonate cladding and louvres to the main building and smaller administration and education centre.

Located alongside the River Ouse in East Sussex, the new facility was subjected to strict planning requirements and boasts an unusual design with the refuse bunker and incinerators being sunk in a 17m deep reinforced concrete basement to minimise the overall height of the structure. The curved building also features no straight elevations and so again, access made the installation process particularly challenging.

The successful completion of Newhaven facility is not only testament to Lakesmere’s technical design and install expertise but also its logistics management skills owing to the limited and difficult site access and complex shaped building. To ensure that the installation process was completed efficiently and more importantly safely, Lakesmere created a dedicated Logistics Manager that oversaw such issues as scheduling deliveries and site storage.
