Designed by Xsite Architecture and inspired by London’s Soho district, the BoHo ‘creative cluster’ development has been created as part of the ongoing regeneration of Middlesbrough with the flagship BoHo One building providing accommodation to help nurture the town’s flourishing creative industries.

Main contractor BAM appointed Lakesmere to complete various roof and cladding work on the three interlinking blocks of the building, each of which boasts a unique façade design comprising Telling Architectural ceramic tiles, Trespa panels and Carlton zinc planks. The combination of different systems presented numerous challenges to team as each product required different installation techniques, handling requirements, waste management restrictions and quality control measures.

Lakesmere was also responsible for the installation of the membrane roofs and sedum ‘green’ roof. As one of Lakesmere’s first nature roof projects, the team quickly mastered a new skill and as the roof had to be installed within 48 hours of delivery, careful planning and attention to detail was vital to ensure the project was completed on time and to schedule.
